Artist Statement
"Colour is my day - long obsession, joy and torment." Claude Monet.

The artist Theo talks briefly about her art process from her home in Dunedin, Florida. You can watch the video here:

Spatial Dynamics XIISpatial Dynamics XII

Color and movement are the soul of my abstract paintings. The oil colors chosen are independently selected and purposely mixed for each work. Colors, lines and forms are brought together in an interdependent dialogue on canvases and fabrics both large and small.

My paintings are created in various series such as, "My World" 2019-2021, "Cast Shadows" 2017-2019, "Five Seasons" 2015, "Linear Moments" and "City Scapes" 2014, "Spatial Dynamics" and "On the Runway" 2013, "Under the Seas" 2010 to 2020. I write individual Artist Statements for each series.

In my paintings I knit together multiple colorful layers of background and foreground elements to depict the movement of natural forces bounded by space and the movement of psychological forces bounded by universal gods. A title is chosen for each work as it emerges or after contemplation of the finished painting.

The coalescence of my internal feelings and external forces allow me to express many thoughts and ideas in dynamic, abstract terms. Hans Hofmann's teachings compel me to allow form to exist through color and Vasily Kandinsky instructs me to consider carefully each point, line and plane.
